Adding Mist To A Photo![]() This is a very simple technique which can be done in any version of PSP. 1. Start with a graphic about 500 pixels wide. (You can reduce the size later if necessary.) ![]() 2. Add a new raster layer. Click on the lasso tool and use the following settings: ![]() 3. Hold down your left mouse button and draw an irregular, closed selection. When you let go of the button your selection will expand much larger. It may even go off your graphic but that's okay. ![]() 4. Flood fill the selection with white. ![]() 5. Deselect. Go to your layer palette and reduce the opacity to about 68. Using the mover tool I moved the bottom of mine down to the water's edge. This is what you should have. ![]() 6. Since I have a lot of reflection in the water in this photo, I need to reflect the mist. Just duplicate the mist layer. Go to Image>Flip. On your layer palette reduce the opacity of this layer to about 36. Move into place as needed. ![]() 7. This image needed a little mist on the upper right so I did a smaller area there repeating steps 2 thru 4. I reduced the opacity on this layer to 68 as before.
Don't be afraid to play. That's half the fun. Here are a couple of other examples I've done. <
